The results of the five-year period after the Paris Agreement are being discussed at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, according to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

Emin Garabagli, head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry, stated that the Azerbaijani delegation held a meeting with the Executive Director of the Global Environment Facility, the head of the World Conservation Union and the President of the Islamic Development Bank, as well as the leadership of the Green Climate Fund and the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

In order to contribute to global efforts, Azerbaijan set a new goal at the Conference, announcing that as an additional voluntary commitment, it will reduce 40 per cent of emissions by 2050 and create a “Net zero-emission” zone in the liberated territories. At the same time, the discussion was held on the implementation of the” smart city / smart village” concept and plans to build a “Green Energy Zone” in these areas.
