Selection of electricity producers in the territory of renewable energy sources in Azerbaijan through direct involvement will be with the consent of the President, this is stated in the law "On the use of renewable energy sources in electricity generation" approved by President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the law, direct involvement of the electricity producer in the territory of renewable energy sources will occur in two cases:
1) when pilot and other projects necessary for the interests of the state and strategic importance are implemented;
2) if the auction for the selection of the electricity producer in the territory of renewable energy sources does not take place.
Also, the procedure for selecting a generator of electricity in the territory of renewable energy sources, as well as the features and conditions of the concluded contracts, as well as the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan will determine.
In addition, the president will approve an action plan for renewable energy.
The action plan includes national, local and other measures based on research on the existing potential of renewable energy sources in nature, modern technologies, development of electricity networks, electricity consumption forecasts and education of electricity consumers, goals for the use of renewable energy sources.
