Azerbaijan plans to present its second Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) to the international community at the upcoming COP31 climate conference in Antalya.
Ferman Gurbanli, Deputy Head of the Office of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, announced the plans during the 9th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Dialogue held in Baku.
According to Gurbanli, the report will include the latest data on Azerbaijan's greenhouse gas emissions, as well as progress made toward achieving the country's national climate targets.
He emphasized that meeting these objectives requires substantial international financial support, access to advanced technologies and stronger information exchange.
Expanding cooperation with international partners and introducing innovative solutions therefore remain among the key priorities of Azerbaijan's climate policy. These efforts are aimed at protecting ecological balance and contributing to global action against climate change.
The ministry official also highlighted the importance of aligning long-term development strategies with short-term objectives to ensure the effective implementation of Azerbaijan's national climate commitments.
He noted that initiatives undertaken by universities contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing sustainable development goals.
In addition, integrating climate adaptation measures and environmental sustainability principles into socioeconomic planning remains an essential part of the country's approach.
According to Gurbanli, these priorities are also reflected in Azerbaijan's recently approved strategic roadmaps and national development plans.
