The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) and SOCAR’s subsidiary, SOCAR Green LLC, discussed opportunities for cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
The meeting focused on attracting green investments to Azerbaijan and exploring insurance mechanisms to mitigate risks associated with financing renewable energy projects. The discussions were held between ICIEC Director General Khalid Khalafalla and SOCAR Green CEO Elmir Musayev.
The parties considered potential areas of partnership, including the use of ICIEC insurance instruments covering political risks and the risk of non-payment of financial obligations. Such mechanisms could help mobilize investment, reduce project-related risks and strengthen the sustainability of bank financing for green projects.
ICIEC noted that the proposed cooperation is aligned with Azerbaijan’s priorities for renewable energy development and SOCAR’s environmental strategy.
