Azerbaijan transported 16.75 million tonnes of oil through the Baku‑Tbilisi‑Ceyhan (BTC) oil export pipeline in January–August 2026, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
This volume was 8.8% lower than in the first eight months of 2025.
During the reporting period, 76.6% of all oil transportation was carried out via the BTC pipeline.
Of the oil shipped through the pipeline, 81.9%, or 13.7174 million tonnes, was oil produced in Azerbaijan, while 18.1%, or 3.0285 million tonnes, came from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan.
The volume of Azerbaijani oil transported via BTC decreased by 11.3% during the period, whereas the volume of oil from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan increased by 4.9%.
The BTC pipeline currently mainly carries oil produced from Azerbaijan's Azeri‑Chirag‑Gunashli (ACG) field block, as well as condensate from the Shah Deniz field. Other crude oil and condensate volumes, including oil from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, are also transported through the BTC pipeline.
The shareholders in ACG are BP with a 30.37% stake, SOCAR with 31.65%, MOL Group with 9.57%, INPEX with 9.31%, ExxonMobil with 6.79%, TPAO with 5.73%, ITOCHU with 3.65%, and ONGC Videsh Limited (OVL) with 2.92%.
