RENAC AG: Azerbaijan, Central Asia to become priority markets for German energy companies

SEPTEMBER 03, 2026

Azerbaijan has been included in the list of priority markets for the German Energy Solutions Initiative, Report informs, citing statements by Laura Scharlach, Unit Director for International Business and Trade Promotion at Renewables Academy (RENAC AG), during the webinar "Infrastructure Development, E‑Mobility and Renewable Energy Storage Solutions in Azerbaijan."

According to her, the organisation has collaborated with this initiative for over two decades, with its primary objective being to assist German small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) in entering new markets using advanced energy technologies.

"Our activities span a vast geography – from Canada to the Pacific Islands. Our main mission consists of supporting German small and medium‑sized businesses on the one hand, and contributing to global climate protection on the other. Since its launch, the project has received funding from Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. Our scope of activity encompasses a broad range of areas – from power generation to green hydrogen, geothermal technologies, energy infrastructure, and energy efficiency enhancements. Both Azerbaijan and Central Asian states have been included in the list of target markets for 2026 and 2027," Scharlach stated.

She specified that the organisation operates in more than 80 countries and implements approximately 150 projects across various regions of the world.

"We also place great emphasis on our work in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and, naturally, in Azerbaijan. In previous years, we have already organised business delegation visits to Azerbaijan in cooperation with the chamber of commerce," she added.

Scharlach recalled that in December, Germany plans to send a business delegation to Baku to explore cooperation opportunities in infrastructure development, electric transport, and renewable energy storage technologies.
