Azerbaijan's commercial natural gas resources amounted to 22.26 billion cubic metres in January–June 2026, including the reserves at the beginning of the year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
Some 29.2% of the country's natural gas reserves were consumed domestically, 60.1% were exported, 2.5% were lost, and 8.2% remained in reserves as of the beginning of July.
Of the natural gas consumed domestically, 56.8% was used for production needs, while 43.2% was sold to households.
Baku accounted for 36.6% of household natural gas consumption. Nakhchivan accounted for 3.1%, Absheron‑Khizi 11.8%, Ganja‑Dashkasan 6.2%, Gazakh‑Tovuz 5.9%, Lankaran‑Astara 5.8%, Central Aran 5.6%, Shaki‑Zagatala 5.5%, Guba‑Khachmaz 5.1%, and Karabakh 4.7%.
The Mil‑Mughan and Shirvan‑Salyan economic regions each accounted for 3.6% of household consumption, while Mountainous Shirvan accounted for 2.4% and East Zangazur for 0.1%.
