More than 8 MW of Solar Panels Installed in Azerbaijan's Liberated Territories
More than 2,500 private houses, public and social buildings in Azerbaijan's liberated territories have so far been equipped with solar panels with a total installed capacity exceeding 8 MW, as well as more than 8,000 LED lighting fixtures.
According to Report, citing the Ministry of Energy, the information was announced during the 13th meeting of the Working Group on Coordination and Monitoring of the Implementation of Green Technologies and Energy Efficiency in the Liberated Territories.
It was noted that approximately 43% of the installed LED lighting units—nearly 3,500—are hybrid systems powered by solar energy.
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov stated that the development of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur based on green energy and energy efficiency principles has already become a model approach. According to him, the results of ongoing monitoring confirm the continued positive progress in this direction.
The meeting also reviewed projects launched and commissioned following President Ilham Aliyev's visits to the cities of Jabrayil, Zangilan, Khojaly, Fuzuli, Khankendi, Shusha, and Aghdam, as well as the Khojavand and Lachin districts. During this period, Shukurbeyli village, Azerenerji OJSC's 330 kV "Shafag" substation in Soltanli village, and several hydropower plants in Lachin were commissioned.
Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources, provided an update on the construction of solar power plants in Jabrayil, the development of four small hydropower plants in Kalbajar and Lachin financed by private investors, as well as measurement and monitoring activities being carried out in preparation for the construction of a wind power plant in Kalbajar.
It was also noted that electricity demand across the liberated territories is now being met entirely through renewable energy sources, while surplus electricity is supplied to Azerbaijan's unified national power grid.
The meeting further reviewed the results of monitoring the implementation of green technologies and energy efficiency in Aghdam city, several villages in the Khojavand district, and the settlements of Girmizi Bazar and Hadrut. Participants also discussed the current status of registering residents as active energy consumers in Horovlu village (Jabrayil district) and Khidirli and Kangarli villages (Aghdam district).
In addition, issues related to heat supply for residential complexes were considered. At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed on the implementation of the proposed measures.
