Final Preparations Underway for Commissioning of Gobustan Solar Power Plant

Construction of the 100 MW Gobustan Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant in the Gobustan district has entered its final stage.

According to Report, this was announced during a visit to the site by a delegation led by Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov.

The minister, accompanied by Javid Abdullayev, Director of the State Agency on Renewable Energy Sources, and Samir Akhundov, Chairman of the Board of the Energy Regulatory Agency, reviewed the progress of the construction works.

During the visit, the delegation inspected the final implementation phase of the project, including the work carried out at the 110/35 kV substation, as well as preparations for the plant's official commissioning ceremony, which is expected to take place in the near future.

According to Universal Energy, the Chinese company serving as the project's main contractor and investor, the facility has been fully prepared for electricity transmission, while all construction activities are progressing in line with the approved schedule.

The company noted that the power plant is expected to be commissioned within the next 1.5 to 2 months. Once operational, it is projected to generate approximately 260 million kWh of electricity annually.

Shahbazov emphasized that the project has made significant progress and noted that the commissioning of the solar power plant will make an important contribution to further diversifying Azerbaijan's energy mix and expanding the country's renewable energy capacity.

The minister also stated that the Azerbaijani government will continue supporting the project and welcomes Universal Energy's future investment initiatives, as well as its participation in promising joint renewable energy projects.
