JULY 07, 2026

Egyptian companies are interested in participating in reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, and Cairo also hopes to expand cooperation with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the energy sector, Report informs, citing Egypt's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hussam El‑Din Effat Mustafa Reda in an interview.

"Today, large‑scale geological exploration work is being carried out in Egypt. We are interested in the participation of SOCAR, Azerbaijan's leading energy company, in our market. We have already begun discussions regarding SOCAR's involvement in Egypt," the ambassador noted.

According to him, highly productive negotiations with SOCAR took place during the recent visit of Egypt's oil minister.

At the same time, the diplomat emphasised that companies do not disclose details until final contracts are signed. "We welcome the participation of Azerbaijani companies both in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons and in the refining segment. We are ready to provide them with full support."

The ambassador stressed that Egypt is already cooperating with Baku in the demining of Azerbaijan's liberated territories. "This is the most important condition for the restoration of the areas. Our specialists have extensive experience in this field. Egyptian companies are also interested in participating in reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan's liberated territories. Of course, final decisions depend on economic feasibility and contract terms. But the interest and opportunities for participation certainly exist."
