Discussions have been held between Azerbaijan and Romania regarding the "Green Energy Corridor" project, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Energy.
The talks took place during a meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Marius‑Gabriel Lazurca, National Security Advisor to the President of Romania.
The meeting emphasised the important role of the energy sector in the development of relations based on strategic partnership between the two countries. Oil and gas supply and the extensive activities of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Romania were noted as indicators of high‑level cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector.
It was noted that the "Caspian‑Black Sea‑Europe Green Energy Corridor" project will further strengthen this cooperation in the electricity sector. Marius‑Gabriel Lazurca stated that this project is of particular importance not only for individual countries but also for the energy security and sustainable development of the European Union as a whole, and noted that Azerbaijan acts as a key energy partner for Europe within this initiative.
It was reported at the meeting that the results of the project's feasibility study will be presented soon. It was noted that the "Green Energy Corridor" will create long‑term economic and energy benefits both for producer countries such as Azerbaijan and for Romania, Hungary, and other Central and Eastern European countries.
The meeting also reviewed innovations being implemented in Romania's energy sector and assessed prospects for future cooperation.
