SLB, a US‑based company, intends to help strengthen Azerbaijan’s position as one of the leading regional energy exporters over the long term, Report informs.
This was stated by Steve Gassen, Executive Vice President for Geographies at SLB, during the 31st Baku Energy Forum.
He noted that the company has played a key role in the development of the Shah Deniz field, one of Azerbaijan’s largest energy projects. “SLB has supplied and continues to supply all the subsea infrastructure that ensures the development of Shah Deniz – both in the early phases of the project and throughout all subsequent stages of its development.”
Speaking about future cooperation prospects with Azerbaijan, he specifically highlighted the joint work with SOCAR on the redevelopment of the Bahar field.
According to the Executive Vice President, despite the field’s long production history and the challenges that have arisen over the years, the project still holds significant potential.
“We are considering the redevelopment of the Bahar field together with SOCAR. Despite the field’s long operational history and the difficulties that have emerged over time, more detailed analysis of approaches to its redevelopment demonstrates great potential. We are applying the latest digital technologies and workflows based on AI‑driven subsurface studies to create fundamentally new concepts of reservoir drainage and a fully integrated field development concept. This is a very unique approach, and we hope it will allow the project to move toward a final investment decision,” Steve Gassen emphasised
