Kazakhstan is exploring various additional oil export routes, including the Baku‑Supsa pipeline, said Yerlan Akkenzhenov, head of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Energy, Report informs via Interfax‑Kazakhstan.
He stressed that no official proposals have yet been received from Azerbaijan regarding this route.
“I cannot disclose the tariff; there have been no official negotiations with the Azerbaijani side,” the minister added.
In May 2026, Azerbaijan and Georgia agreed to resume operations of the Baku‑Supsa pipeline.
The Baku‑Supsa export route, designed to transport oil from the Azeri‑Chirag‑Gunashli field block, was commissioned in April 1999. The pipeline is 837 km long, including 775 km of new 21‑inch (530 mm) diameter pipe and 55 km of rehabilitated pipe. Its capacity exceeds 7 million tonnes of oil per year (145,000 barrels per day). Pumping along this route was halted in spring 2022.
