Azerbaijan will be represented at the Energy Forum to be held in Serbia’s capital, Belgrade. According to information obtained by Report’s Balkan bureau, the country will be represented at the forum by Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov.
The Deputy Minister will travel to Belgrade to participate in the Belgrade Energy Forum, which will take place on May 11–12.
Reportedly, the main topics of discussion at the forum will include energy security, the green transition, renewable energy, and regional cooperation.
It should be noted that the Belgrade Energy Forum is considered one of the most influential energy platforms in the region. The conference has so far hosted over 1,500 participants from various countries around the world. This year’s event is expected to bring together state and government officials, representatives of international organizations, investors, and energy companies.
Regarding Azerbaijan’s participation in this prestigious forum, it is worth noting that cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries is one of the key pillars of Azerbaijani‑Serbian economic relations. Azerbaijan has become an important partner in diversifying Serbia’s gas supply and exports natural gas to the country.
The parties are working, in particular, to strengthen energy security through the Bulgaria–Serbia interconnector. In addition, SOCAR’s involvement in energy projects in Serbia and the prospects for increasing gas supply volumes are also under discussion.
