A meeting took place between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Aysel Yagubova, Executive Director of the ECO Clean Energy Center (CECECO). During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Center's role as a regional cooperation platform, its planned initiatives, and the organization of joint events.
They also talked about matters related to the Host Country Agreement signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and CECECO, the Center's funding, and potential partnerships with international organizations, energy companies, and financial institutions. Plans were highlighted to create a centralized database of existing national laws, regulatory acts, and policy frameworks concerning renewable energy and energy efficiency across ECO member states. Such efforts would benefit investors, financial institutions, and other stakeholders. It was also emphasized that the Clean Energy Center aims to strengthen knowledge and skills in relevant fields within its covered countries, facilitate experience sharing, and increase its presence at regional and international forums.
The Ministry of Energy expressed support for the Center's activities and recommended holding joint events in cooperation with AREA.
Notably, as a specialized body of the ECO, the Center has been operational since September 2025 and is also part of the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC) under the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
