APRIL 20, 2026

One of the key directions in Turkmenistan’s energy policy is the export of natural gas to countries of the European Union. According to information reported by the “Report” agency citing TASS, this was stated by Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov during his speech at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

According to the minister, gas supplies to Europe hold a priority place in Turkmenistan’s energy strategy. He noted that about 15–20 years ago there was successful cooperation with European partners, and significant efforts were made to implement a number of projects aimed at delivering Turkmen gas to Europe via the Caspian Sea.

At the same time, R. Meredov emphasized the importance of ensuring transport security. In his view, Central Asia serves as a key hub for the “East–West” and “North–South” routes, and joint efforts are needed to fully utilize the region’s logistics potential. This would help ensure the efficient operation of transport corridors linking Asia and Europe.

The minister also highlighted the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor as one of the most important routes and expressed confidence that partners from other regions of Eurasia would be ready to expand cooperation with Central Asian countries in the field of transport and logistics.
