Azerbaijan and Serbia Discuss Cooperation Opportunities within the Framework of the “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor” Project

APRIL 09, 2026

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with Dubravka Đedović Handanović, Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia.

According to information from the Ministry of Energy, the meeting emphasized that the high-level political relations between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Serbia play an important role in strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries.

It was noted that the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, held in Belgrade in February this year under the co-chairmanship of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Serbia, and the Intergovernmental Agreement signed on the gas-turbine power plant made a significant contribution to the development of energy cooperation. It was also recalled that the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Energy Cooperation was held in March.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, energy infrastructure, electricity generation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and heat supply were discussed in detail. It was reported that 444.6 million cubic meters of gas were exported from Azerbaijan to Serbia over the past two years.

The work carried out on the construction of a gas-fired power plant in Serbia was reviewed. Cooperation opportunities within the framework of the “Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor” project were also evaluated.

During the conversation, the Serbian side was invited to participate with a broad delegation in the events to be held within the framework of the “Baku Energy Week.”

This meeting is of significant importance for further deepening strategic energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia and for the development of the “green energy corridor” project.
