Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with Indonesia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Berlian Helmi.
According to information from the Ministry of Energy, the meeting thoroughly discussed the prospects for developing energy cooperation between the two countries. Particular focus was placed on energy security, the utilization of renewable energy sources, sustainable development, and the promotion of business and investment opportunities in the energy sector.
The discussions covered the continuation of crude oil supplies from Azerbaijan to Indonesia, the implementation of joint exploration and production projects in the oil and gas sector, as well as the development of cooperation between SOCAR and Indonesia’s state oil company “Pertamina” in the trade of petroleum products and oil-gas processing.
In addition, both countries emphasized their rich renewable energy potential. Opportunities for joint activities were reviewed in the areas of wind and solar energy projects, waste-to-energy technologies, biomass-based energy solutions, and other green energy directions.
Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Ambassador Berlian Helmi highlighted the importance of active involvement of the private sector alongside state institutions in the energy sector. During the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold the first meeting of the Azerbaijan-Indonesia Energy Sector Working Group in the near future.
This meeting is of significant importance in terms of expanding the geography of Azerbaijan’s energy cooperation with Asia-Pacific region countries and increasing international partnership opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
