Azerbaijan and Moldova Agree to Expand Cooperation in the Renewable Energy Sector

MARCH 03, 2026

On the eve of the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council held in Baku, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held a bilateral meeting with Moldova’s Minister of Energy Dorin Junghetu.

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov shared on his “X” social media account that the meeting thoroughly discussed new cooperation opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

The parties particularly assessed the prospects for Azerbaijani companies to participate in the upcoming tender process for the construction of wind power plants and energy storage systems (battery-type storage facilities) in Moldova, as well as the implementation of joint projects.

The meeting once again confirmed the importance of mutual support in developing the renewable energy potential of both countries, strengthening energy security, and advancing the green energy transition process. This cooperation is of significant importance for Moldova’s energy diversification strategy and for strengthening Azerbaijan’s position as a “green energy” exporter in the region.
