Representatives of Slovakia's Gas Sector to Participate in SGC and “Green Energy” Meetings in Baku

FEBRUARY 27, 2026

Specialists from Slovakia's gas industry will travel to Baku to participate in high-level meetings dedicated to the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) and “green energy” topics.

This was reported to Report by the Embassy of Slovakia in Azerbaijan.

The delegation will also include Slovakia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Azerbaijan, Elchin Gasimov. The visit is connected with the main events to be held in the capital in the first days of March.

It should be recalled that during those days, the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council will be organized in the capital.

Ministerial-level meetings of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council have been held regularly since February 2015, while meetings of the Green Energy Advisory Council have been taking place since February 2023.

The primary objective of the Southern Gas Corridor is to reliably deliver natural gas produced in the Caspian basin to European markets. Given the growing demand for Azerbaijani gas in Europe, one of the priority directions is to further increase the project's potential by expanding the transmission capacity of infrastructures such as the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

Slovakia's participation in these events is regarded as a significant step in terms of expanding the geography of Azerbaijan's energy cooperation with European Union countries and diversifying gas supply routes in the Central European region.
