European Commission Energy Official Dan Jørgensen to Represent the EU at SGC and “Green Energy” Meetings in Baku

FEBRUARY 26, 2026

European Commission Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal and Commissioner for Energy Dan Jørgensen will travel to Baku to participate in high-level meetings dedicated to the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) and “green energy” topics.

This was reported to “Report”’s European bureau by the official representation of the European Commission.

During the visit, Dan Jørgensen is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings and participate in a press conference following the outcomes of the meetings.

It should be recalled that in the first days of March, the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council will be held in Baku.

Ministerial-level meetings of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council have been held regularly since February 2015, while meetings of the Green Energy Advisory Council have been organized since February 2023.

The main objective of the Southern Gas Corridor is to reliably and sustainably deliver natural gas produced in the Caspian basin to European markets. Against the background of growing demand for Azerbaijani gas in Europe, one of the priority directions is to further increase the project’s potential by expanding the transmission capacity of infrastructure such as the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).

Dan Jørgensen’s visit to Baku is of significant importance for further deepening cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan in the areas of energy security, diversification of gas supply, and the transition to green energy.
