Azerbaijan has attracted over $360 billion in investments to date, with roughly half from foreign sources, Deputy Economy Minister Samad Bashirli announced at the 2nd Azerbaijan-Türkiye Investment Forum, as reported by Report.
Bashirli pointed out that non-oil exports have doubled in the last six years, reflecting Azerbaijan’s growing competitiveness on global markets.
“With active foreign partner involvement, we are advancing joint initiatives in green energy, agriculture, industry, transport, logistics, digitalization, and tourism. These successes highlight vast potential for expanding trade, launching new projects, and building long-term economic ties,” he said.
The deputy minister underscored Azerbaijan’s rising transport and transit capabilities, including its role in the Middle Corridor, as key drivers for deeper cooperation with Türkiye. Efforts to digitize the corridor and streamline trade are enhancing transit prospects for both nations and the wider region.
He highlighted infrastructure strengths such as the Baku International Sea Trade Port (set to handle 25 million tons annually), nine international airports, and the region’s largest cargo airline, positioning Azerbaijan as a major international logistics hub. The future Zangezur Corridor is expected to further boost global transit opportunities.
Bashirli emphasized significant potential for cooperation and joint investments in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, where smart city and village concepts are being applied, and the areas have been designated green energy zones.
“The operational Aghdam Industrial Park, Araz Valley Economic Zone, new international airports, fast-developing transport networks, and investor incentives make these regions highly attractive,” he noted.
Modernizing infrastructure and expanding green energy capacity in Karabakh, Eastern Zangazur, and Nakhchivan remain top priorities. “Turkish business participation is especially valuable here. The project to restore and operate four small hydropower plants in Kalbajar and Lachin stands as a successful model of energy and sustainable development cooperation,” Bashirli added.
