Azerbaijan Hosts Training to Boost Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings

NOVEMBER 20, 2025

A two-day training session on “Improving Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings” took place in Shamakhi as part of the World Bank-supported Energy Efficiency and Climate project under the Azerbaijan Rapid Technical Assistance Facility (AZTAF), organized by the Ministry of Energy.

The program aimed to equip participants with practical skills for implementing energy-saving measures and effectively managing projects funded by the Energy Efficiency Fund.

Topics covered included energy audits, building modernization techniques, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and an overview of Azerbaijan’s national energy efficiency policy. The training also prepared local auditors to deliver future sessions to broader audiences.

As a hands-on component, participants conducted an energy audit at a public building in Shamakhi.

Attendees included representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Agency (AREA), and officials from the Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, Emergency Situations, and the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, as well as prospective energy auditors.
