Azerbaijan Emerges as Eurasia’s Vital Energy Bridge

NOVEMBER 19, 2025

Azerbaijan is cementing its role as a pivotal energy hub in Eurasia, where energy resources have become a primary instrument of geopolitical influence, said Shahmar Hajiyev, Head of Department at the Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), during the inaugural Azerbaijan-U.S. Think Tank Forum, as reported by Report.

Hajiyev noted that this trend has intensified amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with energy security now inseparable from national security. “Azerbaijan, in partnership with Türkiye and Europe, has delivered landmark projects such as the Southern Gas Corridor,” he pointed out.

He underscored that energy and transport corridors are now critical for Eurasia, enabling Europe to diversify away from single suppliers, linking Central Asia and the Caspian region to European markets, and fostering stronger political and economic ties across the continent.

“Azerbaijan stands at the heart of this connectivity, bridging the Caspian Sea, Central Asia, and Europe while pioneering new green energy corridors,” Hajiyev stressed.

The expert also highlighted the promise of multilateral frameworks like the C6+1 platform, which could unlock fresh economic prospects and enhanced access to European markets for Azerbaijan.
