Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan bilateral relations are advancing at an impressive pace, driven by frequent high-level engagements and deepening personal rapport between the two nations’ leaders, according to Khayotjon Ibragimov, head of the Center for Energy Diplomacy and Geopolitics at Uzbekistan’s Institute for Advanced International Studies, in comments to Report.
Ibragimov highlighted a rapidly expanding portfolio of joint projects, especially in the energy sector. “One notable example is our collaboration on field development in Uzbekistan’s Ustyurt region, where the presidents have announced the establishment of a joint venture for geological exploration,” he noted. Additional joint ventures focus on producing chemical reagents for drilling operations.
The expert also pointed to the landmark memorandum signed by Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan for green electricity transmission. “This initiative involves generating renewable power in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, transmitting it across the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, and ultimately supplying the European Union,” Ibragimov explained. “Such ambitious, technology-driven projects form the backbone of our strengthening partnership, complemented by the deep cultural and human ties between our peoples.”
