Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Corridor Secures Spot in EU’s 2026 Grid Plan

NOVEMBER 06, 2025

The Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor has officially entered the candidate list for the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-e) Ten-Year Network Development Plan 2026 (TYNDP), Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry announced, citing Report.

Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the landmark project—linking Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary—have been included in the preliminary portfolio of 178 transmission and 49 storage initiatives. The projects were submitted in the first application window (April–May 2025) and successfully passed ENTSO-e’s eligibility review.

A second submission round for early-stage concepts ran from September 15 to October 15, 2025. All candidates will undergo technical and administrative screening in November 2025, followed by a full cost-benefit analysis throughout 2026, with final results due by year-end.

The strategic partnership agreement underpinning the corridor was signed in Bucharest on December 17, 2022. Implementation is coordinated by the Green Energy Corridor Energy Company (GECO), which has already held ten Ministerial/Steering Committee meetings. Italian consultancy CESI is conducting the technical and economic feasibility study.
