An agreement was signed between the Ministry of Energy and the Japanese company TEPSCO to fulfill the tasks set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting on the socio-economic results of 2020 to establish a 'green energy' zone in the liberated territories, Report informs, referring to the Ministry.
The agreement outlines a concept and master plan for the establishment of a "green energy" zone in the liberated areas to ensure the energy supply of the region based on modern energy management approaches, energy efficiency technologies, and effective use of the potential of renewable energy such as wind, solar, hydro, geothermal, and bioenergy.
Within the project, the international experience in the field will be studied. The project will also envisage energy demand and energy supply scenarios, integration of the renewable energy into the network, energy efficiency, transport, urban planning, waste management, smart grids, green financing, and other issues depending on economic development and population settlement in the liberated areas.
Founded in 1960, TEPSCO has implemented projects in more than 90 countries and has international experience in 'green energy. The company has offered 'green solutions' within the framework of 'smart city projects in Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brazil, and Thailand.
The company has also participated in the implementation of several projects in Azerbaijan. Among them are consulting services in the construction of Shimal-1 and Shimal-2 power plants, field analysis of the energy sector of Azerbaijan, and others.
On May 3, 2021, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order on measures to establish a "green energy" zone in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
