SEPTEMBER 30, 2025

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy held the 10th meeting of the working group responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of green technologies and energy efficiency measures in the country’s liberated territories, aligning with the directives of President Ilham Aliyev.

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, who chairs the working group, emphasized the extensive restoration and construction efforts underway, highlighting the integration of green technologies, enhanced energy efficiency, and expanded renewable energy use as key priorities. These efforts are integral to new strategic plans aimed at ensuring sustainable socio-economic development and supporting the Great Return initiative.

The meeting reviewed progress on decisions from prior sessions and reports on establishing a green energy zone. Monitoring results from Shusha, Kalbajar, Jabrayil, and the villages of Shukurbayli and Horovlu, as well as hydroelectric power plants in Lachin and Kalbajar, were discussed. Updates included the connection of rooftop solar panels to the grid for 334 homes in Horovlu village and educational programs in Shusha, Lachin, and Zabukh village to promote renewable energy adoption.

The group also reviewed energy efficiency measures, such as the installation of LED lighting poles, solar-based hybrid lighting systems, electric charging stations, operational electric buses, and solar panels on public buildings. Decisions were made to further promote eco-friendly solutions, expand energy-saving opportunities, launch pilot projects, test advanced technologies, and enhance monitoring and accounting systems.

Representatives from state institutions, the Special Representative Offices of the President in the liberated territories, the Restoration, Construction and Management Service, the Shusha City State Reserve Administration, and Azeristiliktechizat OJSC attended the meeting.
