Ukraine places high value on its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan and is committed to further strengthening bilateral relations, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko stated at the 13th session of the Azerbaijani-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on economic cooperation.
Ahead of the commission’s plenary session, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and his Ukrainian counterpart German Galushchenko, who serve as co-chairs of the IGC, held a bilateral meeting. According to the ministry, both sides underscored that their countries’ relations rest on mutual trust and an effective partnership. Appreciation was also expressed for Azerbaijan’s continued humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, and the ministers discussed ways to expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
The hybrid-format IGC session explored the current state and future prospects of collaboration in a wide range of areas, including politics, economy, trade, industry, energy, transportation, science, education, culture, and ICT.
Minister Shahbazov emphasized that the adoption of an Action Plan under the Commission would elevate cooperation to a new level by maximizing opportunities in energy, mining, agriculture, industrial parks, and free economic zones.
For his part, Galushchenko highlighted the strong historical ties, mutual respect, and shared approach to regional cooperation and sustainable development that bind the two countries. “Ukraine greatly values its strategic partnership with Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan was among the first nations to provide us with critical energy equipment, which played a vital role. We believe this meeting will pave the way for new joint initiatives that reinforce the foundation of our long-term partnership,” he said.
The session concluded with the signing of a Protocol and an agreement to hold the 14th meeting of the IGC in Kyiv.
