Azerbaijan is actively engaging with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to secure financing for its green energy initiatives. Discussions were held during the 2025 Asia Clean Energy Forum in Manila, Philippines, focusing on potential collaborations to advance Azerbaijan's renewable energy sector.
Deputy Minister of Energy, Orkhan Zeynalov, led the Azerbaijani delegation at the forum. He participated in a panel session titled "Green Corridors for a Shared Future of the Central, West, and East Asian Regions," where he outlined Azerbaijan's renewable energy goals and interregional infrastructure projects aimed at exporting green energy. Zeynalov emphasized the opportunities for cooperation with Asian countries in this context.
A significant focus of the discussions was the development of the Caspian Green Energy Corridor, a project aimed at connecting the energy systems of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan to facilitate the export of green electricity to Europe. ADB and AIIB's involvement is expected to accelerate this initiative by providing financial and technical expertise.
Additionally, a meeting was held with ADB Executive Director Rachel Thompson to discuss prospects for joint projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, as well as strategies for advancing green energy corridors and financial mechanisms to support investment.
These engagements underscore Azerbaijan's commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity and integrating sustainable practices into its energy sector.
