Turkey-Azerbaijan IV Energy Forum to be Held in İzmir

MARCH 07, 2025

In September 2025, the city of İzmir, Turkey, will host the fourth iteration of the Turkey-Azerbaijan Energy Forum. This significant event will be co-chaired by Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy, Parviz Shahbazov, and Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar.

Established to enhance strategic energy cooperation, the Turkey-Azerbaijan Energy Forum operates under the framework of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two nations. Its primary objective is to ensure more agile and result-oriented collaboration in the energy sector.

The inaugural forum took place in December 2021 in Baku, Azerbaijan, where both countries signed five new agreements in the energy sector, including collaborations in natural gas and mining. The second forum was held in October 2022 in Istanbul, Turkey, focusing on various energy domains such as hydrocarbons, petrochemicals, electricity transmission and distribution, and renewable energy. The third forum convened in 2023 in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan, addressing potential significant transformations in the energy sector.

The upcoming fourth forum in İzmir is expected to further strengthen the energy partnership between Turkey and Azerbaijan, contributing to the energy security and economic development of both countries.
