BP plans to reduce regional emissions by 11% through renewable energy projects, Aytan Hajiyeva, BP’s country manager for Georgia, announced at the INMerge Innovation Summit, organized by PASHA Holding in Baku, Report informs.

Hajiyeva highlighted BP’s recent agreement with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the Azerbaijan Investment Company:

“Through this agreement, the Shafag project, which includes constructing a 240 MW solar power plant in the Jabrayil district, will be implemented. Additionally, we will introduce green energy solutions at the Sangachal terminal. These initiatives will collectively reduce the company’s regional emissions by 11%, marking a significant regional project.”

“Within the framework of this project, our successful collaboration with SOCAR and the Azerbaijan Investment Company will enhance our partnerships with regional allies by integrating these technologies into our business operations,” she added.

Hajiyeva also pointed out that digital security is a particularly challenging area:

“This is a crucial issue. For example, when we talk about digital security in the company, we pay special attention to cyber security. Ensuring robust cyber security measures is vital for maintaining business sustainability.”
