Georgia plans to ensure that domestic energy production exceeds consumption by 2030, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, delivering an annual report in the parliament.

According to him, the country has a strategic task: “By 2030, domestic energy production should exceed consumption, and everything is being done to achieve this goal.”

The head of the government noted that 284 contracts were signed for the construction of new power plants: “Some 214 of them are hydropower plants, 26 are wind power plants, and 44 are solar power plants. We are sure that all relevant projects will be successfully implemented.”

He also emphasized that the construction of new power transmission lines is actively progressing: “We are actively working on the Black Sea submarine cable project, the feasibility study of which will be completed in July.”
