Promotion of "green" technologies and support for startups in this direction will be in the focus of attention of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the IV Industrial Revolution of Azerbaijan in 2024, Executive director of the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the IV Industrial Revolution (4SIM) Fariz Jafarov said during the press conference on the results of activities for 2023.
"As you know 2024 is recognized as the year of solidarity for a green world in Azerbaijan, and also this year the country will host a major COP29 event. Promotion of the use of "green" technologies in various sectors of the national economy and support for startups in this direction will be the focus of 4SIM this year," he noted.
Meanwhile, green technologies represent a wide range of innovative solutions and practices aimed at reducing the negative impact of human activity on the environment and pressing environmental issues. They strive to create sustainable and efficient technologies that help conserve natural resources, reduce pollutant emissions, and maintain environmental sustainability. An essential part of green technology is to consider the life cycle of products, from production to disposal. It also supports research in the development of training methods and information technologies aimed at increasing environmental awareness and improving resource management.
Meanwhile, the decision to hold COP29 in Azerbaijan was officially announced in Dubai on December 11, 2023.
Besides Azerbaijan, Armenia and Bulgaria were nominated as candidates. However, on December 7, 2023, after direct negotiations between the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Armenia decided to withdraw its candidacy to support Azerbaijan. Bulgaria followed suit and also withdrew its candidacy.
To note, the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, Mukhtar Babayev, was appointed by the President of COP29 on January 4, 2024.
