Slovenian-Serbian-Hungarian electricity exchange created

JANUARY 15, 2024

The joint power exchange of Slovenia, Serbia and Hungary may start operating in the first half of 2024, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, announced on his Facebook page.

Péter Szijjártó reported that the Slovenian, Serbian and Hungarian corporate-professional decisions have been made, governmental approvals remain, and the power exchange will greatly improve the energy security of the entire region.

"Energy security has become one of the most serious challenges in Europe in the last one and a half to two years, perhaps the close energy cooperation between countries has never been as important as it is now," emphasized the minister, adding that it is particularly important in Central Europe, where there are no large oil or natural gas fields, so the interdependence of the countries is even greater.
