AUGUST 02, 2023

The Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR), President Rovshan Najaf and First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Romeo Mikautadze have discussed the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia in the oil and gas sector and renewable energy.

At the meeting, it was noted that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia is successfully developing in all areas of the economy, including in the energy sector. It was noted that the mutual visits of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili gave a new impetus to the development of strategic partnership relations.

It was emphasized that joint energy and transport projects not only strengthen the sustainable economic development of both countries, but also make a valuable contribution to the energy security of the region and Europe. In particular, it was noted that the signing of an agreement on a strategic partnership in the field of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary in 2022 in Bucharest opens up new opportunities for expanding cooperation.

At the meeting, satisfaction was also expressed with the successful activities of SOCAR in Georgia, and an exchange of views took place on other issues of mutual interest.
