Azerbaijan is actively implementing various programs and projects aimed at developing a green economy. This includes measures to improve energy efficiency, develop sustainable infrastructure and introduce clean technologies, Dr. Umud Shokri, a Washington-based foreign policy advisor and energy strategist.
According to Shokri, Azerbaijan's commitment to renewables and the transition to a green economy demonstrates its recognition of the importance of sustainable development and addressing climate change challenges.
“Azerbaijan has substantial potential for renewable energy development. In addition to solar and wind energy, the country possesses favorable conditions for hydropower and geothermal energy. Tapping into these resources can contribute to a more diverse and sustainable energy mix,” the expert said.
“By embracing renewables and transitioning to a green economy, Azerbaijan can not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance energy security and sustainability.”
Umud Shokri stressed that by capitalizing on its renewable energy potential, Azerbaijan can pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
