Azerbaijan is the closest country to Türkiye in terms of energy sources, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmet Yildiz, told Report at an event on Canada Day held in Ankara.
Yildiz said that energy security is one of the most important issues in Türkiye-Canada relations: "Canada is a big country, it has a lot of potential. But Türkiye has other advantages. We are thinking of evaluating these advantages. Apart from Russia, Europe has a great need for energy supply. In this regard, Canada also has great opportunities. But Azerbaijan is the closest country to us in terms of energy sources."
The deputy minister also expressed hope that Canada will lift sanctions on Türkiye in the field of defense industry.
