Azerbaijan has a huge potential in green energy, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko said.
According to him, the EU and Azerbaijan have a fairly developed cooperation in the energy sector.
The diplomat noted that the memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in the energy sector, signed in July last year, provides not only for the increasing Azerbaijani gas supplies to Europe, but also touches upon such an important moment, as green energy.
He added that there is concrete progress in this direction, referring to the Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the field of development and transmission of green energy between the governments of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary, signed in December last year.
The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan is now focused on renewable energy, which, according to him, is the future of the energy sector.
He added that it is gratifying to see how Azerbaijan has already begun to successfully implement this area.
