Germany will allocate 732.25 million euros to service the country’s first floating terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to the terms of the tender published by the operator of all LNG terminals in Germany, Deutsche Energy Terminal GmbH (DET).
An LNG terminal based on a floating storage facility was built at the Voslapper Groden site in Wilhelmshaven to diversify Germany’s energy supply system against the background of the energy crisis and a sharp reduction in energy supplies from Russia due to international sanctions.
“Against the backdrop of the energy crisis, the Federal Republic of Germany is diversifying its energy supply in order to reduce its dependence on Russian natural gas. In this regard, the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will also be implemented. Germany will allocate 732,250,000 euros,” the article says.
Currently, the operating company is looking for a contractor who will take responsibility for the infrastructure and technological maintenance of the LNG terminal.
Earlier it was reported that the EU countries are going to replace pipeline gas supplies from Russia by building new terminals for receiving LNG and increasing their number from 27 to 35.
